NextEra Energy Resources LLC, a unit of NextEra Energy Inc. (NEE - report) has agreed to buy four solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Ontario, the Canada of first Solar Inc. (FSLR - report). Total capacity of these projects, located at Sombra and townships of Moore, Ontario, is estimated to be 40 megawatts (MW), able to serve as homes near production.
First solar has agreed to complete the construction to its Sombra and centres of solar Moore before the Canadian subsidiary of NextEra NextEra Canada energy energy resources, takes the ownership and operation of four projects. First solar will use its thin tip fixed tilt system technology to develop for these sites.
La Sombra solar energy centres Moore will each consist of two 10 MW solar PV projects among panels in each project. The power produced from these four solar projects will be sold to Ontario Power Authority, within the framework of long-term contracts.
Thanks to the development of solar energy four projects, the companies expect to promote clean energy in the most populous province of Canada Ontario's economy. Companies believe that these projects to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by close to 45,000 tonnes each year. This is equivalent to withdraw nearly 8,600 road cars each year for the duration of the project.
Construction on all four projects is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2011 with commercial operation should by the end of 2011. Projects are still awaiting Government approval.
