DETROIT - actionable claims General Motors Co. fixed a defective versions of the Chevrolet Impala police framework but is not correcting the same problem in hundreds of thousands of other Regal.
The class action, filed the week last in Detroit, said that 2007 and 2008 model year Regal have defective spindle rods, which connect the suspension with rear wheels. Vice misaligns the wheels, which makes the tires wear out more quickly.
After the trial, GM told dealers to replace the stems of the spindle and the tires of police cars involved. It has also authorised dealers pay to police who had purchased replacement tires.
But the combination said that GM offers the same relief officers non-proprietary. The company has sold Regal 423 000 of those model years.
A GM spokesman was not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
